Everyone knows that Philadelphia Eagle’s Michael Vick is as accident prone as anyone in the league – if not more so. His bones are made of glass – nay – fragile crystal. After Vick’s most recent injury to the ribs that knocked him from the rest of preseason, the Eagles decided he needed some reinforcement. This led Vick to consult Rob Vito, the CEO of Unequal Technologies. Unequal Technologies produces armor and other high-tech, unique apparatuses.
This is great news for Vick. He is finally getting armor for his delicate mid-section that he desperately needs. The light weight – only 3 ounces for each plate – is so protective that Vito said, “I guarantee (Vick) will not get hurt.” Granted this won’t protect him from concussions, broken fingers, arms or legs, but at least his most frequently hit section will finally be protected.
As excited as I am for Vick to be more protected than ever before, I am absolutely furious. Vick has only played a full 16 game schedule once in his career. Why on God’s earth did it take Vick – or the Eagles organization for that matter – so long to acquire the aforementioned armor?! Vick is far from invincible and has shown repeatedly that he refuses to give up on any play. I’m still not sure whether that shows the heart of a lion or the stupidity of a goldfish, and sadly I am leaning towards the latter. It’s not like this technology was invited yesterday. It’s not like the Eagles organization couldn’t afford the hundreds or thousands of dollars to protect their $100 million dollar investment. Frankly, it’s moronic on owner Jeffrey Lurie’s part to not demand that Vick wear more protection. Furthermore if Vick played more games last year, instead of the divine Vince Young, the Eagles probably would have made the playoffs. More importantly it would have prevented the New York stinking Giants from winning ANOTHER Superbowl. I am enraged at Vick and at my beloved Eagles organization for their incompetence to protect their biggest investment of all time.
