The Delaware Blue Hens got back on the winning track today with a 47-24 win over Rhode Island. Andrew Pierce led the way with 141 rushing yards on 18 carries, two rushing touchdowns, and one pass reception touchdown. Tim Donnelly passed for 191 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Bob Bentsen led Rhode Island with 167 passing yards.
The Hens defense recorded three sacks, one in the endzone for a safety, and held the Rams to 43 rushing yards.
With James Madison’s loss to Richmond, each team has at least one loss in the Colonial Athletic Association. So the Hens, sitting at 2-2 in league play and four games to go, still have a shot at improving their position. Next week the Hens will play Old Dominion, one of the current league leaders.
