Today, during one of the rookie mini-camps, 1st round pick Fletcher Cox received harsh words from defensive coordinator Juan Castillo. Some are even saying that the words were to harsh and were completely out of line.
There are many fans around the league, that can vouch with me with what I’m writing. Get on these players rear-end, and teach them that being disciplined is often the key to winning football games.
Just ask former Eagles defensive end Juqua Parker vs the Buffalo Bills last year, when he decided to jump off sides on a 4th & 1, that cost the Eagles the football game.
This is exactly what the Eagles need. The Eagles need someone that is not going to take these players lightly if they make a mistake. You think just because your a 1st round pick, that you can get off easy and not have to deal with any real consequences? Think again!
Defensive line coach Jim Washburn also got in on the action, by letting Fletcher Cox know how he felt about why Cox wasn’t hustling during one of the drills.
Taking it to extreme measures, some might argue that the reason Juan Castillo is being more aggressive, is because now the second year defensive coordinator’s job is on the line. Could this be true, no one knows for sure. All we do as fans, is the fact that Cox messed up, and he’s going to hear it from the coaching staff every single time he does. Fletcher knows what he has to do to get things done, and I’m quite sure he will get it down right the next time he decides steps out onto a football field.
