Today was the first day of full team practice for the Philadelphia Eagles and there were no major injuries to report except Brent Celek, who had suffered a mild right knee sprain. This seems to be a minor injury and Celek should be okay for the next day’s practice. To add, Celek said that “I’ll be good, Promise.”
The only other Eagles news to report from today is that the Birds hired six new coaching interns for the 2012 coaching staff. Some of these names, we have seen before in Eagles green and will be on the sidelines. The new coaching interns are Correll Buckhalter, William Fuller, Don Holmes, Greg Lewis, Corey Peoples, and Montae Reagor. They will help the Birds throughout training camp and the preseason.
If you remember, Correll Buckhalter and Greg Lewis were with the Eagles during the times when the Birds were going to the NFC Championship it seemed every year. Buckhalter was apart of three headed monster when the Eagles had Duce Staley and Brian Westbrook. When Buckhalter got the ball, he made the best out of his chances and it showed. As an Eagle, Buckhalter had 22 total touchdowns and 3,085 yards from scrimmage. Now Greg Lewis, we all remember him back in 2004 when he had a touchdown catch in the Super Bowl vs. the New England Patriots. Lewis played eight seasons in the NFL and six of those seasons was with the Eagles. In Lewis’ career he had 152 receptions for 1,992 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Also to go back to the Super Bowl real quick, Lewis had four receptions for 53 receiving yards.
Updates: DT Derek Landri took a lot of reps with the first team defense today and is competition with other DT’s such as Antonio Dixon, Cedric Thornton, and Fletcher Cox for the second defensive tackle spot.
CB Curtis Marsh was on the field today with the first team defense and looks to be the front runner for the third cornerback spot.
